Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: analyze leadership theories and styles: demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of major leadership theories and styles, including transformational, transactional, and servant leadership, and analyze their applicability in public sector contexts; develop strategic leadership skills: apply strategic leadership skills to develop vision, set goals, and create strategies that align with the mission and values of public sector organizations, ensuring effective governance and public service delivery; enhance organizational performance: implement leadership practices that improve organizational performance, including team building, conflict resolution, and decision-making processes, to foster a productive and collaborative work environment; promote ethical leadership and accountability: integrate ethical considerations and promote accountability in leadership practices, ensuring transparency, integrity, and adherence to public service values and ethical standards in managerial roles. 

Instruction: 

This graduate-level course focuses on developing the essential leadership skills and managerial capabilities required for effective public administration. The course explores various leadership theories, styles, and practices, emphasizing the unique challenges faced by leaders in the public sector. Students will learn to apply leadership principles to enhance organizational performance, foster a positive work environment, and drive change in public organizations.

In the graduate degree category, 3 semester hours in Business, Management, Leadership, Public Administration, Human Resource Management, Finance, or Non-Profit Management (10/24).
