Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: operate a preschool or child care center; develop and maintain an effective organization; plan and implement administrative systems that provide effective education and support programs; plan and implement an effective marketing program to parents and the community; effectively administer a program of personnel management and staff development; maintain and develop the facility and equipment; comply with legal requirements necessary for effective management; foster good community relations and influence child care policy that affects the program; practice responsible financial management; and maintain a commitment to professionalism; document professional growth and development.

Instruction: 
This course is taught in an online, module format (with a required textbook) consisting of on-going and cumulative competency based assessments (quizzes and final exam), open-ended essays, student activity and observations/reflections. Students receive on-going monitoring and feedback from personal Education Coaches throughout the process. The program consists of nine instructional units focusing on the core areas of competency required to manage a child care center.
Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 4 semester hours in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Education Administration/Leadership (11/10) (12/15 revalidation) (12/20 revalidation).
