Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: describe the development and identify the theoretical underpinnings of each major personality theory and its major contributors; compare and contrast the major personality theories and explain how they have shaped contemporary modern personality psychology; and evaluate early and contemporary research findings and assess their influence on contemporary personality theory.

Instruction: 

Major topics include the nature of theoretical paradigms; major personality theories; development of normal and abnormal behavior; and historical influences on the development of various personality theories.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category OR in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Psychology (8/24).
