BIB-660 Biblical Hermeneutics for Pentecostal Preaching
75 Hours (6 weeks).
March 2025 - Present.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: explore the relationship of preaching with the basic styles of traditional sermons and the new forms to communicate the disclosure; discuss the affirmative contribution that the Pentecostal model of preaching has made Biblical hermeneutics through a contextual application of the Biblical text from the pulpit; explore theoretical and practical issues related to the ministerial disciplines of preaching and Pentecostal hermeneutics; identify the motives, purposes and preacher priorities and how these contribute to preaching; and present the challenge presented by the different audiences to the ministry of preaching and the need to elaborate sermons relevant to all listeners.
This is a preaching and hermeneutics course from the perspective of the Pentecostal church. Biblical texts are considered using the key hermeneutics that distinguish the vivid style and preaching of the Pentecostal orator. Students analyze the evolution of preaching and the approach to the Biblical text for the needs of the new contemporary audiences. An interpretive method of the Bible is presented for designing sermons. The course concludes with a brief practical exposition where students apply the principles learned.
In the graduate degree category, 3 semester hours in Biblical Studies, Theology, or Scriptural Studies (3/25).
