Introduction to Servanthood MIN 160T

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: articulate values and beliefs that guide the educational experience at Faith Builders; investigate their personal calling and evaluate ministry opportunities accordingly; analyze service opportunities in today's world and propose effective means of meeting human needs; summarize New Testament principles and techniques of serving others, especially as exemplified in the ministry of Jesus; identify common temptations in ministry and evaluate personal vulnerabilities; develop and demonstrate leadership and teamwork in ministry teams; and develop group-building activities for ministry teams.
Major topics include the discipleship philosophy of Faith Builders; calling and servanthood in the church and in the world; five essentials for service; understanding the heart of a servant; common temptations; spirit-filled service; and team work. Methods of instruction include lecture and group work. Evaluation criteria include response papers, a final exam, and journaling.
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Ministry Studies (10/15) (10/20 revalidation).
