Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: explain the role of data analytics in accounting and how it enhances financial decision-making, auditing, and risk management; apply data cleaning and preparation techniques to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial datasets; perform descriptive and inferential statistical analyses to extract insights from accounting and financial data; assess financial risks and compliance using data-driven approaches to enhance internal controls and regulatory adherence; apply data-driven auditing techniques to enhance accuracy, detect discrepancies, and strengthen assurance processes; and communicate data-driven financial insights effectively to stakeholders through clear reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations. By the end of the course, participants will be able to leverage data analytics to optimize accounting functions, provide strategic insights, and enhance financial reporting accuracy.

Instruction: 

Data Analytics for Accountants (BUS-397) an undergraduate course that introduces students to the principles and techniques of data analytics, equipping them with the skills necessary to interpret financial data, enhance decision-making, and improve business performance. Students will explore key topics such as data visualization, predictive analytics, statistical analysis, and automation in accounting. The course emphasizes practical applications, including data-driven auditing, fraud detection, financial forecasting, and risk assessment.
