Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to articulate an in-depth understanding of the major religious, historical, and geographical elements of the Book of Joshua; and show proficient textual analysis using the commentaries.


Topics covered in the course are: the conquest of the Land of Israel, division of land, tribal boundaries, the charge to Joshua and a review of the laws governing cities of refuge. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, and Textual preparation.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category OR in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Hebrew Bible, Judaic Studies, or Religious Studies (10/10) (8/15 revalidation) (3/21 revalidation).
