Operations Management (MBA 510)

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: employ an integrated approach to operations management; apply operations management concepts and best practices to evaluate and improve real world organizations; analyze and optimize supply chain operations to enhance operational efficiency and meet organizational goals; develop and implement effective operations management strategies for resource allocation, capacity planning, and process improvement to drive sustainability and innovation in business practices; and critically assess operational challenges and apply project management tools and techniques to solve complex problems within various organizational contexts.
This course examines the discipline of operations management (OM). Familiarity is gained of the foundations of OM, including the core components of OM, and managing the OM resources and processes that create value. Other topics include OM’s role within the supply chain, capacity planning, process performance, resource planning and project management; and facets of the role OM plays in modern organizations.
In the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 4 semester hours in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics and Transportation, Project Management, Economics, Information Systems, Human Resource Management, Manufacturing and Production, Data Analysis and Statistics, Strategic Management, or Sustainability and Environmental Management (10/24).
