Legal Environment of Business (BUS 440)

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: identify and discuss legal systems and their impact on businesses; analyze legal concepts and apply them to real world organizations; examine legal precepts and enforcement mechanisms; assess the implications of contract law in business transactions and partnerships; differentiate between criminal and administrative law as they pertain to business operations and compliance; and evaluate the role of litigation in dispute resolution and its effects on business strategies.
This introductory law course explores the legal and regulatory environment of business and examines law as the foundation for business. Major topics include a review of the law as a method for dispute resolution through the court system and litigation; principles of contract law, criminal law, administrative law; and a review of various regulations impacting business.
