International Management (MBA 505)

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: analyze the influence of globalization on management; assess the effects of globalization on firms and explain how managers need to adapt traditional practices to operate effectively in a global marketplace, predicting potential successes and challenges that may arise from the global context; apply cross-cultural management theories; use cross-cultural management theories to diagnose and address management issues that arise from cultural differences, and develop strategies for enhancing communication and collaboration between diverse teams within international organizations; integrate social responsibility and ethical practices: evaluate and integrate concepts of social responsibility and ethics into management practices, ensuring that organizational strategies consider ethical implications and promote sustainable and socially responsible business operations across different cultures and regulatory environments; formulate and implement international strategies; develop strategic plans that account for the complexities of international operations, including market entry strategies, competitive analysis, and resource allocation, and implement these strategies within culturally diverse environments; address human resource challenges in a global context; and identify human resource concerns specific to international management, such as selection, development, and support of expatriates, and design human resource practices that align with the global objectives of the firm, while respecting the nuances of managing a multicultural workforce.
This course provides an introduction to the discipline of international management and explores the impact of globalization on management and how cultural diversity plays a key role in the management process of the firm.
