Heavy Rescue II
15 hours (5 weeks).
January 2020 - Present.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: Discuss the use of meters for detection of hazardous gases and environments during everyday emergencies as well as hazardous materials incidents; safely and effectively manage elevator emergencies; set up and safely utilize basic rigging; safely and effectively operate cutting torches; and tactically manage industrial rescue/man-in-machine incidents safely utilizing available tools.
This course allows students to continue their training in the heavy rescue disciplines, going beyond vehicle extrication and disentanglement. The program involves both classroom lecture and hands-on training.Prerequisite: Heavy Rescue I
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Strategies and Tactics, Fire Science, Emergency Management, or Emergency Medical Services (8/25).
