Learner Outcomes:
Students will be able to: discuss the role of the accounting software; customize and print company account reports; export and email company account reports; use drilldown, find and search features to locate posted transactions; perform general journal transactions including posting transactions and correcting journal entry postings; perform customer activities for a service-based business including diagram the flow of customer activities, manage customer accounts and jobs, record customer transactions, correct transactions, and reconcile customer activities to the general ledger; perform vendor activities for a service-based business including diagram the flow of vendor activities; use the Vendor Center and reconcile vendor activities to the general ledger; perform payroll activities for a service-based business including manual accounting procedures for payroll activities to prepare and execute payroll, use the Employee Center, manage employee accounts, and create payroll activities reports; close the accounting period for a service-based business; perform customer activities for a merchandising business including use the Customer Center, record customer transactions, and reconcile customer activities to the general ledger; perform vendor activities for a merchandising business including use the Vendor Center, record vendor transactions, and reconcile vendor activities to the general ledger; perform payroll activities for a merchandising business including use the Employee Center, pay employees, correct paychecks, and create payroll activity reports; close the accounting period for a merchandising business; perform tasks for year-end closing for both service-based and merchandise businesses; and use the software wizard to create a new company.
Instruction:
The Quickbooks Pro and Premier course is offered in a traditional classroom format consisting of interactive lectures, demonstrations, proctored skills applications/lab activities and proctored testing.
Credit recommendation:
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category OR in the upper division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Business Accounting (7/13). NOTE: Course numbers on transcripts may reflect different prefixes depending upon where a course is offered.
