Learner Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to: use techniques to establish rapport with the audience; implement techniques to reduce nervousness and fear; recognize their strengths as presenters; use strengths to appeal to different types of audiences; recognize how visual aids can create impact and attention; apply information preparation and organization techniques; and deliver a short presentation.
Instruction:
The Public Speaking course is offered in traditional classroom format consisting of interactive lectures, demonstrations, proctored skills applications/lab activities, and proctored testing.
Credit recommendation:
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Communications or Fundamentals of Public Speaking (10/14).
