Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: describe the fundamentals of project management; perform the pre-project setup initiate a project; plan project strategies; develop project schedules; plan project staffing, communications, and quality; plan project risk management; and plan project costs.

Instruction: 

Instruction is offered via traditional classroom format consisting of interactive lectures, in-class demonstrations, proctored skills applications/lab activities, and proctored testing.  Topics include:  project management fundamentals, pre-project setup, initiating the project, planning project strategy, developing the project schedule, planning human resources, communications, and quality, planning project risk management, and planning project costs. Prerequisite: Background in managing, directing or participating in small-to-medium-scale projects is recommended.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Operations Management or Strategic Management (10/16).
