Instruction:
Overview of the ICD-9-CM manual Volumes 1, 2, and 3: format, conventions, alphabetic index/volume 2, tabular list and appendices/volume 1, procedures/volume 3; official coding guidelines; V codes and late effects; general and chapter specific guidelines; overview of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.(Prerequisites: Introduction to Medical Coding and Billing (251), Introduction to Medical Terminology (253), and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Coding (255)*.
Credit recommendation:
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Allied Health and Bioinformatics (3/10). *NOTE: Course numbers on transcripts may reflect different prefixes depending upon where a course is offered.
