Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to: discuss the four C's (clear, concise, complete, and correct) of communication and writing; demonstrate understanding of different sentence types and how to use them; discuss inclusive language; use active and passive voice and when to apply each; list and apply steps to writing business letters; discuss criteria for creating business memos and e-mails; and discuss and apply proofreading techniques.
Instruction:
The Business Writing course is offered in a traditional classroom format consisting of interactive lectures, demonstrations, proctored skills applications/lab activities and proctored testing.
Credit recommendation:
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Business Writing, Communication, or Fundamentals of Journalism (10/14).
