Learner Outcomes:
Students will be able to explaine the concentration, precision, physical engagement and application required of a performer; develop an awareness of the potential to alter and transform the dynmaic of a room; the ability to work at a more grounded, focused energy; develop and increased physical awareness; identify physical habits and limitations; develop a more alighed posture; practice heightened listening skills.
Instruction:
This course introduces students to the basics of Susuki Training and addresses essential and universal toods for the actor: energy, breath, concentration, focus, stamina, stillness, flexibility, and presence. In addition to a study of the Susuki theory, most instruction is provided experientially through the experience of the body by observation, demonstration, and execution.
Credit recommendation:
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category or in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 1 semester hour in Theatre, Drama, Communications, or Radio and Television (7/12).
