Learner Outcomes:
Develop heightened personal awareness and freedom of physical motion. Research period movement, manners, and dance. Perform basic hand-to-hand combat.
Instruction:
The student will explore the process of dramaturgical research resulting in a comprehensive report and presentation on the period of choice. Students will learns a variety of historical dances and movement skills, including period posture, gestures, energy, prop work, and relationships, as well as the basics of stage movement such as crosses, counter-crosses, balancing the stage, and conflict through physical obstacles.
Credit recommendation:
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category or in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Theatre, Drama, Communications, or Radio and Television (6/09).
