Certified Production Technician Manufacturing Process and Production

Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: identify customer needs; determine and apply available resources for the production process; set up production process equipment; establish team production goals; determine job assignments; coordinate work flow with team members and other work groups; communicate production and material requirements and production specifications; perform and monitor the process to make the product; document product and process compliance with customer requirements; prepare final product for shipping or distribution; identify basic concepts of mechanical linkages, and set up and operate machine tooling.

Instruction: 
Instruction is offered via classroom or online through the use of study guides, required and supplemental readings, quizzes, homework, lab required interaction with instructor, and final exams. The course assesses students' end-of-program knowledge and skills in an online or printed form at proctored testing centers. Topics include: customer needs, available resources for production process, equipment set up for production process, team production goals, job assignments, work flow with team members and work groups, production and material requirements and product specification, process of making the product, documentation and process compliance with customer requirements, preparation of final product for shipping or distribution.
Credit recommendation: 
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Industrial Management, Machine Tool Technology, or Technology Elective (10/12).
