Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: demonstrate the ability to plan a program of play and recreational activities for children in a group setting; appropriately modify and tailor play and recreational activities to meet the developmental needs of each individual child in a group; implement the program of individual and group activities in a manner consistent with the plan; and evaluate the outcomes of the implemented program.

Instruction: 

Major topics are:  motor, cognitive, social and emotional development of young children, and the use of creative play, cooperative games, sports and recreational activities for pre-school through the elementary years.

Credit recommendation: 

In the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Education (2/11).
