Introduction to Podcasting (COM-325)

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: explore the history and role of podcasting in media and entertainment; create engaging stories designed for listening audiences; plan a podcast idea with a clear theme and audience in mind; outline how to record and edit audio using basic podcasting tools; describe how to add music and sound effects to improve podcast quality; summarize the methods to promote and share podcasts on popular platforms; and explain the rules and ethics of podcasting.
Introduction to Podcasting is an undergraduate course that provides an in-depth exploration of the art, science, and industry of podcasting, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to create, produce, and distribute their own podcasts. Students learn the essentials of storytelling, audio production, and audience engagement while examining the impact of podcasts as a medium for education, entertainment, and social commentary.
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Communications or Career Education (4/25).
