Pop Rock Night (Production Course)

Version 1: 72 hours (7 weeks). Version 2: 84 hours (7 weeks).

Learner Outcomes: 

Version 1 or 2: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: employ research skills to find appropriate material to showcase their type; implement a rehearsal process to prepare material for rehearsal; demonstrate storytelling skills; utilize a physical score; apply personalization in all material; perform lines on voice; and utilize physical space with a partner.  

Instruction: 

Version 1 or 2: This course teaches students how to present Pop Rock material in a performance. Students research and prepare a minimum of eight songs as possible choices for performance at the Pop Rock Night. Students discuss with the director the merits of the prepared material and decide which song(s) should be further prepared for production. Students prepare the material vocally and prepare for the acting journey to present in rehearsal, which includes both individual work on solo material, as well as ensemble work.

Credit recommendation: 

Version 1: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category OR in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 2 semester hours in Musical Theatre and related disciplines (5/10). Version 2: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category OR in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Musical Theatre and related disciplines (7/15 revalidation).
