3. Musical Scene Study

Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: develop a preparation and rehearsal process for successful acting work in a Musical and apply the skills necessary to demonstrate acting work in a variety of musical genres; build a personal rehearsal process to support the acting challenges of a musical scene; effectively rehearse with a partner; apply the "Four Lists"; create all six sides of the playing space with the senses and imagination; incorporate specific environment to support physical actions and sensory conditions; identify the journey and progression of the scene; listen and respond in-the-moment; work with underscoring; distinguish between Singing versus Communicating; and identity the obstacles and stay active.

Instruction: 

In this course, students employ the tools and insights from Acting, Vocal Technique, Dance and Movement, and Vocal Performance within a musical scene; integrate script analysis with truthful acting objectives to challenge themselves; and create heightened emotional and physical life within a variety of musical genres.
