Learner Outcomes:
Students will be able to: identify and use the billing cycle in a medical office, list various types of health insurance providers, compare procedure and diagnosis coding, use basic accounting principles, correctly enter patient demographic and clinical data, process insurance claims, enter charges and payments from patients, post deposits, payments, and adjustments from third party payers, create reports, schedule appointments.
Instruction:
Methods of instruction are: reading assignments, exercises, lesson quizzes, worksheets, and final exam.
Credit recommendation:
In the lower division associate/baccalaureate degree category, 2 semester hours in Medical Billing (3/12).
