Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: discuss how AutoCAD and Mastercam facilitate high-volume production of parts in a shop environment; Import drawings from AutoCAD to Mastercam; verify how parts will be cut; conduct final verification; cut all parts; and assemble the final project.
Students use the skills learned in Introduction to AutoCAD and Masteram II to extract all parts of a drawing and import those parts to Mastercam. Verifying how parts will be cut in Mastercam and making revisions to the file in order to compensate for thickness of actual material will allow students to gain experience in troubleshooting using the software. Students are then introduced to standard practices for the CNC machine, conduct final verification of part cutting, cut all parts, and assemble the final project.
