Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: demonstrate proficiency in the UNIX operating system; navigate the file system; manage files and directories; manage access permissions; write shell scripts; and use UNIX utilities.
Instruction: 

Major topics are: the UNIX file system, the shell, utilities, processes, filters, regular expressions, scripting, security, and administration.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Computer Science (7/13).
