Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: examine child development from birth to six years; explore developmental and learning theories; implement curriculum in a classroom; modify techniques for use with special needs children; evaluate children's progress; maintain communication with families; and implement appropriate behavioral objectives.


Major topics are familiarity with the stages of child growth and development, lesson plans, setting up a classroom, and modeling appropriate teaching behaviors and strategies.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Education (2/11) (4/16 revalidation).
