Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: describe Data Center operations; define Data Center cabling requirements; discuss industry cabling standards for Data Centers; demonstate various media capabilities and uses; define connectors and fiber types used in Data Centers; discuss Data Center cable testing and documentation requirements; and describe Data Center security issues. 

Instruction: 

Instruction is offered via traditional classroom format consisting of interactive lectures, in-class demonstrations, proctored skills applications/lab activities, and proctored testing. Topics include: data center cabling requirements, documentation requirements, testing, and troubleshooting. 

Credit recommendation: 

In the associate degree/certificate degree category, 1 semester hour in Fiber Optic Technology, Fiber Optic Installation, Computer Networking, Computer Science, or Communications Technology (8/15).
