Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: analyze the theological and ethical themes discussed in Luzzato's writings; discuss man's duty in the world; and examine human character traits and their effects.

Instruction: 

This course is a close study of the theological and ethical themes in Luzzato's masterpiece, The Path of the Just. Topics include: man's duty in the world and the traits of vigilance, diligence, expurgation and self-denial.

Credit recommendation: 

In the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Jewish Ethics, Jewish Thought, Jewish Philosophy, Judaic Studies, Near Eastern Studies, or Religion (5/06) (3/11 revalidation) (9/16 revalidation) (11/22 revalidation).
