Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: build a personal rehearsal process to support the acting challenges of a musical scene; apply acting techniques to musical scene work;and demonstrate a mastery of acting and voice by performing a scene from a musical.
Instruction:
The purpose of this course is to integrate and apply the skills and techniques obtained in Vocal Technique, Private Voice, Vocal Performance, Voice and Speech, Dance and Movement, and Text Analysis. Instruction focuses on exploring the music of five musicals from the Rodgers and Hammerstein canon: Oklahoma, Carousel, King and I, South Pacific, and The Sound of Music through papers, readings, text work and scene work, and the demanding disciplines of Musical Theatre.

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category OR in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 2 semester hours in Musical Theatre, Drama, and related disciplines (5/10) (7/15 revalidation).
