Learner Outcomes: 

Version 1: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: use and expand their personal rehearsal process and deepen the application of personalization, sensory conditions, acting techniques, and script analysis techniques. Version 2: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: utililize and expand their personal rehearsal process; demonstrate a deepened application of personalization, sensory conditions, acting techniques, and script analysis techniques; develop spontaneity; perform with the whole body; employ the concept of "yes and..." to partners and given circumstances; physicalize characters in preparation for next term's Character Workshop and Musical Scene Study; explore sophisticated character development techniques; and experiment with non-traditional ways to uncover creativity.

Instruction: 

Version 1 and 2: This course enables actors to attain the level of artistry and professionalism necessary to sustain longevity in the theatrical industry. The focus is on applying basic acting and text analysis skills to scene work using the plays of Anton Chekhov and Tennessee Williams.

Credit recommendation: 

Version 1: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category OR in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 2 semester hours in Musical Theatre, Drama, and related disciplines (5/10). NOTE: This course and Vocal Performance I form a 4-semester hour course in Musical Theatre, Drama, and related disciplines. Version 2: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category OR in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Musical Theatre, Drama, and related disciplines (7/15 revalidation). NOTE: This course and Vocal Performance I form a 4-semester hour course in Musical Theatre, Drama, and related disciplines.
