Nursing 200 - Transition for the LPN

Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: identify the philosophy and curricular framework of Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing; contribute to the health care team in promoting achievement of optimum client outcomes; perform nursing care using core behaviors essential for nursing practice within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act; build the nursing plan of care using the nursing process to implement, manage, document, and evaluate client care; and perform safe, effective and competent nursing care to promote, maintain, and restore health using critical thinking and sound nursing judgment skills.

Instruction: 

Nursing 200 supplements the nursing bridge course for the LPN articulating students. The core behaviors and constructs of the nursing curriculum organizing framework are reviewed. The didactic and clinical experiences are designed to familiarize incoming students with the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing philosophy and student learning objectives. Students use the nursing process in the delivery of nursing care while incorporating principles of reciprocal caring and social responsibility.

Credit recommendation: 
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Nursing (8/03) (9/08 revalidation) (12/13 revalidation).
