Learner Outcomes: 
Students will be able to: demonstrate minimum skill of 30 wpm on a 3-minute timed writing exercise, define principles of creating effective documents, apply formatting skills in keyboarding different types of documents, utilize online help system to research features and functions in order to increase efficiency with applications, refine proofreading skills and correctly use proofreaders' marks, utilize and insert graphics, cut and paste texts, add bullets and numbering, footnotes and endnotes, save documents.
Instruction: 
This course combines text and technology to create learning experiences using interactive textbook readings followed by open-book concepts review, skills review, and other challenging exercises. Other instructional methods include reading assignments, unit exercises, course projects, final project, and final exam.
Credit recommendation: 
In the lower division associate/baccalaureate degree category, 2 semester hours in Microsoft Word 2010 (3/12).
