Commercial Basics (COM101)

Learner Outcomes: 
Grasp the nature of commercial acting; achieve an awareness of one's commercial look and the techniques of dealing with commercial copy, both spoken and silent; acquire the process and deal with the pressures of interviewing and auditioning.
Instruction: 
This course familiarizes the student with the basics of on-camera work for commercials through taping exercises, improvisation and working on actual commercial texts, with an introduction to site specifics, including the microphone, camera, recording equipment, and studio.
Credit recommendation: 
In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category or in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 1 semester hour in Theatre, Drama, Communications, or Radio and Television (11/97) (12/02 revalidation).
