Synthetic Turf Installation Journey-Level Course (Optional Course)

Learner Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: identify and use various types of installation methods, including glue-down and mechanical fastening; discuss types of venues where turf is installed (sports fields, landscaping) and how the type of venue impacts the type of turf used and the installation method; identify and use tools and equipment needed in turf installation; explain how turf is manufactured; accurately cut and make seams in turf without shearing the yarn; correctly read drawings and lay out inserts; and accurately sew a seam to maintain row spacing.

Instruction: 

This is an optional course for journey-level members who have prerequisite knowledge and skills needed to install synthetic turf. NOTE: Students must have journey-level status to enroll in the course.

Credit recommendation: 

In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Floor Covering or related disciplines (9/10) (9/17 revalidation).
