Learner Outcomes: 

Version 1 and 2: Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: demonstrate a basic understanding of good vocal technique; describe the fundamentals of vocal production; demonstrate a basic understanding of the elements of interpretation; and present a song using the knowledge learned throughout the course.

Instruction: 

Version 1 and 2: Major topics covered in the course are: posture and breathing, phonation, resonance, registers, legato and sustained tones, prevention of voice disorders, diction, public performance. Methods of instruction include lecture and voice coaching. Evaluation criteria include exams, presentations and projects.

Credit recommendation: 

Version 1: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category OR in the upper division baccalaureate degree category, 1 semester hour in Beginning Class Voice (12/03) (4/07). Version 2: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 1 semester hour in Beginning Class Voice (11/10) (10/15 revalidation) (10/20 revalidation).
